Betty Nana Efua Krosbi Mensah, an aspiring National Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress, has urged young women to build social capital through service, leadership and meaningful relationships, describing it as one of the greatest assets anyone can possess.
In a Facebook post dated Saturday, June 27, following her participation in the CONNECT Summit organised by the Office of the Women’s Commissioner of TEIN UniMAC-IJ, the former Afram Plains North MP said she had the opportunity to engage with young women on the importance of investing in themselves and their communities.
She encouraged the students to overcome fear and self-doubt, stressing that confidence is developed through action and perseverance.
“I encouraged the students to never allow self-doubt, fear, or perceived imperfections to silence their voices. Every great leader begins somewhere, and confidence is built through courage, consistency, and a willingness to embrace every opportunity to learn and grow.”
Ms. Krosbi Mensah said social capital should not be measured by financial wealth but by the impact individuals make through service and the relationships they cultivate.
“I emphasized that social capital is not measured by wealth or material possessions, but by the service we render, the relationships we build, and the positive impact we make, even when no one is watching or applauding.”
According to her, the CONNECT Summit highlighted the importance of networking and building relationships that could shape future careers and leadership journeys.
She also encouraged young women to participate actively in leadership and civic activities, noting that leadership is open to anyone willing to serve and contribute to positive change.
“Leadership is not reserved for a select few; it belongs to everyone who is willing to serve, contribute, and create positive change.”
Concluding her message, the aspiring National Women’s Organiser urged young women to believe in themselves and invest in their personal development.
