The Awutu Senya East Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have called for a retraction and clarification over comments they say falsely linked Constituency Chairman Stephen Ofosu Agyare to the Mfantseman 24-Hour Economy Market project contract.
In a statement on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, the executives disputed claims attributed to the Central Regional Chairman, Richard Asiedu, that Mr. Agyare was awarded a contract worth about GH¢4 billion.
“We respectfully disagree with the Regional Chairman’s claim, made during his live television interview, that he facilitated the award of a contract worth approximately GHS 4 billion to Chairman Stephen Ofosu Agyare in connection with the Mfantseman 24-Hour Economy Market project.”
The executives maintained that documents in their possession show the contract was awarded to a different company.
“We state that, to the best of our knowledge and based on the documentary evidence in our possession, the Mfantseman 24-Hour Economy Market contract was awarded to Brison Construction Company Limited, and not to Chairman Stephen Ofosu Agyare or any company associated with him.”
The group also rejected allegations that Mr. Agyare sponsored media personalities to attack party officials, describing the claims as unsubstantiated, and urged the NDC’s national leadership to intervene to promote unity and responsible internal communication.
