The Ghana Armed Forces have cleared 89.5 kilometres of the Accra–Kumasi expressway corridor, representing 50.9% of the total project area, within nine weeks of intensive work on the route.
Officials say the achievement marks a major milestone in the ongoing corridor development programme aimed at improving connectivity between Ghana’s two largest cities and supporting future highway expansion works.
According to project updates, the remaining 86.1 kilometres are expected to be completed within the outstanding 13-week timeline, as the Armed Forces continue accelerated clearance operations along the route.
The works form part of broader national infrastructure efforts to open up key transport corridors, enhance road safety, and improve long-distance travel efficiency between Accra and Kumasi.
Authorities have expressed confidence that the project will remain on schedule, with sustained deployment of personnel and equipment to meet the completion target within the stipulated period.
