One person has been killed and five others injured in a road crash involving a Kia Rhino and a MAN Diesel truck at Asubuo on the Accra–Kumasi Highway.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, and prompted a response from the Suhum Municipal Fire Station.
A six-member fire crew arrived at the scene at about 4:07 p.m. and found one person trapped inside the Kia Rhino, with registration number GE 6281-25.
Firefighters used extrication equipment to free the trapped casualty, who was subsequently transported to the Suhum Government Hospital for medical attention.
In all, five people; four males and one female, sustained injuries in the crash.
A male pedestrian, however, died after he was reportedly knocked down during the incident.
The crash involved the Kia Rhino and a MAN Diesel truck with registration number GT 496-P.
According to the driver of the Kia Rhino, the MAN truck crashed into the rear of his vehicle, causing him to lose control before the vehicle subsequently struck the pedestrian.
Both vehicles sustained damage in the collision.
The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be established, as the relevant authorities continue to assess what led to the incident.
The fatality adds to concerns over road safety along the Accra–Kumasi Highway, particularly at busy sections where vehicles, pedestrians and other road users interact.
