The campaign team of Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has reaffirmed its unwavering support for him following a court judgment that has affected his bid for a party leadership position.
In a statement issued after the ruling, the campaign team said it fully endorses the position taken by the NPP’s General Secretary, who indicated that the party would pursue all available legal avenues through the appellate process.
The team expressed confidence that the judicial process is not yet concluded, stressing its belief in constitutional democracy, due process and the rule of law.
According to the statement, Chairman Wontumi’s political career has been marked by years of service, sacrifice and dedication to the NPP. It highlighted his progression from serving as a party security officer to becoming a constituency chairman and subsequently serving three consecutive terms as Ashanti Regional Chairman.
The campaign team argued that his contributions to the party cannot be diminished by a single court ruling and maintained that its confidence in his leadership remains unchanged.
It also appealed to party supporters across the country to remain calm, peaceful and united while the legal process continues.
Supporters were urged to avoid actions or comments that could undermine the judiciary or inflame tensions.
The statement further disclosed that Chairman Wontumi’s legal team is expected to initiate the appropriate appellate processes in accordance with the law, expressing confidence that those steps will be pursued diligently.
Reaffirming its commitment to the campaign’s objectives, the team said its vision of building a stronger, more united and better organised New Patriotic Party remains intact despite the court’s decision.
The campaign also thanked delegates, volunteers, party communicators, youth activists, polling station executives, constituency and regional officers, as well as supporters across the country, for their continued loyalty and commitment.
Concluding the statement, the campaign team pledged to stand firmly with Chairman Wontumi, his family and the New Patriotic Party throughout the legal process, insisting that its faith in his leadership and the future of the party remains unwavering.
