Six persons have been arrested by the Ashanti Regional Police Command for their alleged involvement in an organised armed robbery syndicate operating in parts of the region.
The arrests were made in August 2026 by the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit in Kumasi following intelligence-led operations.
The suspects are Philip Nyarko, alias “Kawawa”, 23; Hadi Samed, alias “Toronto”, 20; Issahaku Musah, alias “Isak”, 23; Suraj Mohammed, alias “Baba Nde” and “Trouble”, 27; Hadi Abdul Majeed, alias “Panie”, 23; and Foster Owusu Afriyie, alias “Joe Fraizer”, 45.
According to Ashanti Regional Police Commander, COP Osei Authur, preliminary investigations have linked the suspects to reported street robberies at Kaase, Ahinsan Estate, Santasi New Site, Bronikrom, Kwadaso Estate and other areas.
Police recovered a Kawasaki motorcycle, two machetes, an iPhone 13 and five keypad phones suspected to belong to robbery victims.
A further search of Afriyie’s residence resulted in the recovery of 33 assorted mobile phones believed to be stolen.
Police also arrested Augustine Agyemang Duah, who is suspected of helping the group unlock stolen phones. A laptop believed to have been used for the activity was recovered from his residence.
The Police are also searching for six other suspected associates identified as Andy, Umaru, Dauda, Malik, Abdul Shattar and Abdul Farouk.
The Command said some of the suspects had previously been arrested and granted bail in connection with robbery-related cases that remain before the Asokwa Circuit Court 1.
Investigations are continuing to establish the full extent of the alleged criminal activities and recover additional stolen property. The arrested suspects are expected to be processed for arraignment.
The Police have urged the public to provide information on the wanted persons but cautioned against confronting or attempting to arrest them.
