A toddler is miraculously recovering after falling from the top of a one-story building at Bantama Market in the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 evening around 5:00p.m. and has left the family devastated.
According to eyewitnesses, the building, located within the busy market area, has an open space where there is no safety barrier or signage, this gap has been a concern for months, with traders claiming that it poses a constant danger to both them and their children.
Shockingly, three children have reportedly fallen from the same spot in recent months.
In an interview with Elizabeth Gyamfuaa Fosu (Akosuah Sunday), on June 24, 2025 the mother of the injured child, she explained that she was trading nearby when she heard a noise in the market, to her horror, she discovered that the child who had fallen was her own son.
“He is currently at the Emergency Ward at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital receiving intensive treatment, the doctors say he is in critical condition and is struggling to breathe.”she said with deep emotion.
The traders is appealing to the government and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to urgently address the safety hazards at the market by installing the necessary safety barriers to protect lives and prevent further accidents.
