A man widely known as Cyborg, real name Abubakari Sadick, has been convicted for unlawfully discharging a firearm at a public gathering in Accra and fined GH¢24,000, equivalent to 240 penalty units, by an Adentan court.
The court also revoked his firearm licence and ordered the confiscation of the weapon, concluding a case that sparked widespread public concern.
The incident occurred on December 28, 2025, at El-Wak Stadium during the AfroFuture concert, where a viral video captured Sadick firing multiple shots into the air.
In the footage, he acknowledged the illegality of his actions while referring to President John Dramani Mahama and describing himself as the “Accra New Town Street King.”
He claimed the gunfire was a “government salute” in honour of Nigerian Afrobeats star Asake, whose performance had drawn large crowds.
Sadick was arrested the following day, December 29, 2025, in Adenta by the Cyber Vetting Team of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Authorities recovered the firearm, a Derya MK-12 with registration number 22-GHA-1162, which was submitted as evidence in court.
