The government will officially launch the Nkoko Nkitinkiti Programme on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, with President John Dramani Mahama leading the event in Kumasi.
This was announced by the Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu on Sunday, November 9, 2025.
The initiative, managed by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, aims to revitalize Ghana’s local poultry industry, cut dependence on imported chicken, and save the country over $300 million annually.
It also targets community development and youth empowerment through support for rural households.
The programme is expected to reach at least 55,000 households nationwide, creating jobs and providing farmers with chicks, feed, veterinary services, and access to structured markets.
After earlier delays to ensure adequate stakeholder consultations, officials say the launch is now ready to proceed.
