The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has confirmed that a section of the Ghana Grid Company’s (GRIDCo) 161kV Aboadze–Tarkwa transmission line has been damaged, causing potential disruptions to power supply in parts of the Western and Ashanti Regions.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry said engineers from GRIDCo have been dispatched to the site to carry out urgent repair works aimed at restoring the line and stabilising power transmission.
According to the Ministry, the situation could temporarily affect electricity supply in areas including Tarkwa and Kumasi, but assured the public that every effort is being made to swiftly rectify the fault.
“We wish to assure the general public that every effort is being made to repair the damage and normalise the situation,” the statement read.
The Ministry also apologised for any inconvenience caused by the incident and reiterated its commitment to ensuring a reliable and secure electricity supply across the country.
