Policy analyst Dr Razak Kojo Opoku has cautioned some members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) against what he describes as attempts to find fault with the government’s TraffiTech-GH road traffic enforcement project.
He urged critics to avoid allowing partisan interests to undermine what he considers a laudable initiative aimed at improving road safety and promoting discipline among motorists.
In a statement, Dr Opoku expressed concern that what he described as excessive criticism and scandal-mongering could threaten the implementation of the TraffiTech-GH project.
He said the initiative should be assessed on its merits rather than subjected to opposition simply because it was introduced by a government.
“We hope the scandalmongers will not use their ‘Scandal Enterprise’ to kill the laudable TRAFFICTECH-GH project.
Anything Ghanaian, they are against it,” he stated.
Dr Opoku’s comments add to the ongoing public debate surrounding the automated traffic enforcement system, which has attracted discussions about road safety, accountability and its implementation.
He maintained that political disagreements should not stand in the way of initiatives considered beneficial to the country.
