The Ghana Police Service has commenced the implementation of its automated traffic law enforcement system, known as Traffitech-GH, which officially took effect on November 1, 2026.
The initiative, being implemented through the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), is aimed at automating the enforcement of road traffic laws and regulations across the country.
In a public notice, the Police urged motorists to observe traffic regulations and follow approved procedures when verifying and paying fines issued under the system.
The Police advised motorists to first confirm that traffic violation notifications come from the official sender ID GPS-MTTD, warning that genuine notices would not be sent from ordinary mobile phone numbers.
Motorists are also expected to open their Electronic Notice of Violation (ENV) or ticket to verify the vehicle photograph and registration number, as well as the location, date and time of the alleged violation.
Where available, motorists are encouraged to watch the accompanying video before proceeding with payment.
According to the Police, traffic fines can be paid through the National Investment Bank (NIB) payment portal or by using a USSD code.
To pay online, motorists should visit https://traffitech-ghpay.nib.com.gh, select Make Payment, enter their ticket number, verify the displayed details and follow the payment instructions.
Alternatively, motorists can dial 7100# and follow the prompts to make payment using their ticket number.
The Police have cautioned motorists and vehicle owners to remain vigilant and guard against fraudsters who may attempt to exploit the new system.
They stressed that traffic fines should never be paid into personal mobile money numbers or through unofficial accounts.
