An eyewitness has recounted events surrounding the arrest of a man identified as Phil and his girlfriend in connection with the death of popular Circle phone dealer Nana Yaw Kyere, also known as Terry Dinero.
According to the eyewitness, residents were shocked when the two were arrested because they had lived in the same neighbourhood for about seven to eight years, with no known suspicion among residents that Phil was involved in criminal activity.
The eyewitness said residents later heard that Terry Dinero’s body had been discovered around the Community 18 Junction area.
According to the account, when personnel from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) arrived in the neighbourhood, they reportedly asked Phil whether he had seen Terry.
Phil allegedly denied knowing Terry’s whereabouts. The officers, however, reportedly told him that Terry’s live location had indicated that he was somewhere in the vicinity.
The eyewitness said investigators initially focused their attention on another house near Phil’s residence.
It was reportedly only after police brought Phil and his girlfriend back to the area that residents understood the reason for their presence.
The eyewitness further alleged that Phil had taken Terry’s vehicle to a mechanic to have it repaired and its colour changed.
According to the account, the mechanic later saw the vehicle being discussed on social media and attempted to contact Phil several times without success.
The mechanic subsequently reportedly towed the vehicle to the Manet Police Station and lodged a report.
The eyewitness also stated that Phil was Ewe and had no known affiliation with the Ga community.
