The Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service has trained selected personnel and public sector stakeholders in the Volta Region on the operations of the Traffitech-GH system ahead of its nationwide rollout.
The training, organised in collaboration with the project’s private sector partner, was held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Stevens Hotel Conference Room in Ho.
It also provided participants with an overview of the new Road Traffic Regulations, 2026 (L.I. 2519), and the Road Traffic (Amendment) Act, 2025 (Act 1153).
The programme forms part of preparations for the operationalisation of Traffitech-GH from October 1, 2026, in accordance with Regulation 242.
It was the fifth and final session in a series of nationwide enforcement training programmes organised ahead of the implementation of the system.
A total of 45 participants took part in the training, including MTTD personnel from Ho and representatives from the Judicial Service, National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), National Insurance Commission (NIC) and Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA).
Participants were taken through key aspects of the Traffitech-GH system, including automated road traffic offences and fines under Regulation 242, the implementation and operation of the system, as well as the contest flow for motorists who challenge offences.
The selected regional back office team also received practical training on the use of the in-vehicle fixed camera and the handheld or tripod Lasercam4 speed camera.
As part of preparations for the October 1 rollout, the Volta Regional back office has also been set up with the updated Traffitech-GH software at the Regional MTTD Office in Ho.
The training is expected to strengthen the capacity of personnel and relevant institutions to support the implementation and enforcement of the automated traffic management system when it becomes operational.
