The Parliamentary Select Committee on Energy has paid a working visit to GOIL PLC as part of efforts to strengthen parliamentary oversight of the petroleum downstream sector.
The visit provided an opportunity for the Committee to engage GOIL management on the company’s operations, strategic investments, fuel security responsibilities, expansion projects and challenges confronting the petroleum industry.
The engagement was led by GOIL Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Edward Abambire Bawa.
Discussions covered a range of areas, including GOIL’s downstream operations, the Cylinder Recirculation Model, GOBitumen, upstream activities, local product sourcing and the company’s plans to introduce electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
The company also briefed the Committee on measures being implemented to sustain its position in Ghana’s petroleum market.
Speaking on behalf of the Committee, Yilo Krobo MP Albert Tetteh Nyakotey described GOIL as “Ghana’s pride” and said the visit was intended to deepen Parliament’s understanding of the company’s operations and its contribution to ensuring fuel security across the country.
The Committee commended GOIL management for the comprehensive engagement and encouraged the company to build on its achievements while pursuing further investments and expansion.
GOIL, for its part, reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality and reliable petroleum products and services to consumers across Ghana.
