The Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has hosted the first cohort of fellows under the Technical Talent for Industry Fellowship for an educational and industry exposure visit.
The 10 fellows, organised by Skills for Progress Africa in partnership with founding technical partner ELAF Industrial Automation Limited, toured the refinery to gain practical insight into its operations and engage with professionals working within the industrial facility.
As part of the visit, the Managing Director, Edmund Kombat took the fellow through various aspects of refinery operations and interacted directly with experienced personnel at TOR.
They also held an engagement with the management of TOR, which provided an opportunity for the fellows to gain insights into the refinery’s ongoing revival efforts, current developments and the road ahead.
The programme is aimed at strengthening the connection between emerging technical talent and industry, giving young professionals practical exposure to the people, systems and processes shaping Ghana’s industrial sector.
The MD in a remark said such engagements reinforce its role as a training ground for technical skills needed to support Ghana’s energy sector and its future industrial development.
The visit also highlighted the importance of collaboration between industry and technical training initiatives in equipping young people with practical knowledge and experience relevant to the country’s workforce needs.
