The National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), in partnership with businessman and philanthropist Alhaji Seidu Agongo, has distributed 850 free sewing machines to young people, women and other vulnerable groups in the fashion industry in the Greater Accra Region.
The distribution, led by the Chief Executive Officer of NEIP, Mr Eric Adjei marks the first phase of a nationwide initiative aimed at distributing 10,000 sewing machines to beneficiaries across Ghana.
The initiative is intended to support people in the fashion industry with the equipment needed to develop their skills, expand their businesses and create sustainable livelihood opportunities.
Mr Adjei said the intervention highlights the importance of collaboration between government and private individuals in advancing economic opportunities for young people.
He expressed gratitude to Alhaji Seidu Agongo for his partnership and generosity, noting that the provision of sewing machines would help beneficiaries strengthen their trade and work towards economic independence.
Mr Adjei said he would continue to explore partnerships and opportunities to empower young people and other vulnerable groups to secure decent and sustainable jobs.
He added that the initiative aligns with the vision of President John Dramani Mahama to expand economic opportunities and support livelihoods across the country.
The nationwide programme is expected to continue with further distributions as NEIP works towards its target of providing 10,000 sewing machines to beneficiaries across Ghana.
