The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested three suspects accused of representing and facilitating the activities of Dutch fugitive Jos Leijdekkers, popularly known as “Bolle Jos”, in Ghana.
The arrests follow the seizure by French customs of a cocaine shipment allegedly linked to the wider network.
In a statement issued on Monday, September 14, 2026, NACOC said the suspects are in its custody and are assisting investigators to establish their alleged roles in the trafficking operation.“The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested three suspects for allegedly representing and facilitating the activities of Dutch fugitive Jos Leijdekkers, popularly known as ‘Bolle Jos’, in Ghana.”
NACOC said the arrests reaffirm its commitment to preventing Ghana from being used as a transit point or operational base for international drug-trafficking organisations.
“The arrests reaffirm NACOC’s resolve that Ghana will not be a safe haven, transit point or operational base for international drug-trafficking organisations.”
The Commission said it will continue working with domestic and international law-enforcement partners to disrupt the people, finances and infrastructure supporting the illicit drug trade.
The development comes days after French customs seized nearly 3.9 tonnes of cocaine worth about €225 million (US$261 million) at the port of Dunkirk.
The shipment, concealed in a container carrying plastic waste, had arrived from Ghana and was reportedly destined partly for Antwerp, Belgium.
Leijdekkers, one of Europe’s most wanted drug fugitives, has been linked to major cocaine-trafficking operations and is believed to have established networks across West Africa and Europe.
The three suspects remain under investigation and have not been convicted of any offence.
