The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, together with the Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, has inspected vessels at the Tema Port carrying clinker and other raw materials used in cement production.
The visit forms part of government’s efforts to identify measures to reduce the cost of cement and make the product more affordable to consumers.
The two ministers arrived at the berth at Tema Port to inspect the consignments and assess the processes involved in the importation and handling of clinker and other cement production materials.
The port engagement is expected to provide government with a better understanding of the supply chain and factors contributing to the cost of cement in the country.
The inspection forms part of broader efforts by government to engage stakeholders across the cement value chain and explore practical interventions to address rising cement prices.
