The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa has mourned the death of the constituency’s National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman, C.K. Tay, describing him as a trusted friend, adviser and reliable political partner.
In a tribute, the MP said his relationship with Chairman Tay began as political opponents when the two contested the NDC parliamentary primaries in January 2012.
He said although he emerged victorious in the contest, the two later developed a close friendship and became loyal allies in the party.
According to the MP, he subsequently supported C.K. Tay’s bid to become NDC Constituency Chairman for North Tongu, after which they worked together to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures.
“Working with him and party faithfuls in North Tongu we built an unstoppable winning machine and consistently secured the widest electoral victory margins in the entire country,” the MP said.
The MP described the late chairman as an honest adviser, an astute politician and a dependable partner who contributed significantly to the party’s electoral successes in the constituency.
He said his wife, Nuhela, and he had lost a great friend whose counsel and companionship would be deeply missed.
“Our painful loss is Heaven’s gain,” he said, as he bid farewell to the late C.K. Tay.
He concluded the tribute with a prayer for the deceased to rest with Mawu Sogbolisa.
