The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has received three Toyota Hilux pickup vehicles to support Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAHN) services in the Central, Eastern and Ashanti Regions.
The vehicles were received on behalf of the Ghana Health Service by Dr. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, the Director-General at a ceremony held yesterday.
The vehicles were procured by the KOICA Ghana Office through UNICEF Ghana, which served as the implementing partner for the support.
The three vehicles have been designated for the Central, Eastern and Ashanti Regions to improve mobility and strengthen the delivery of essential healthcare services, particularly at the community level.
The vehicles are expected to facilitate supervision, monitoring and outreach activities while supporting healthcare workers to reach communities and deliver critical RMNCAHN interventions.
The initiative forms part of efforts to strengthen the capacity of the Ghana Health Service to provide accessible and quality maternal, newborn, child and adolescent healthcare services across the beneficiary regions.
The support is also expected to enhance the efficiency of community-level interventions and improve coordination and supervision of health programmes in the three regions.
