Police have launched investigations into the death of a 45-year-old farmer, Anuma Samuel, popularly known as Degue, who died after sustaining a gunshot wound to the chest at Tewia, a community in the Atiwa East District of the Eastern Region.
According to family members and eyewitnesses, the incident occurred at the deceased’s residence on Monday morning.
Mr Samuel, who was married and the father of seven children, was said to have been at home with his family when the incident happened.
Speaking in an interview, his wife, Madam Adobea Janet, said there had been a disagreement earlier in the morning after their youngest child requested money from his father to go to school.
She explained that the child did not receive the money, after which events unfolded leading to the shooting incident.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear and are currently under investigation by the police.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy, while police continue their investigations into the matter.
Authorities say further details will be made available as investigations progress.
