Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, the Member of Parliament‑elect for the Ayawaso East Constituency, has expressed deep appreciation to his supporters and the people of the constituency after securing a decisive victory in the by‑election.
In his statement of gratitude issued on March 4, 2026, Baba Jamal described the journey as “one of the most challenging in my political life,” but said the strong mandate from voters made the effort worthwhile.
According to official results from the Electoral Commission of Ghana, Jamal won 10,884 votes, representing 63 percent of valid ballots cast in the March 3 by‑election, defeating his closest rival from the New Patriotic Party who polled 4,009 votes.
“I am deeply humbled that the good people of Ayawaso East believed in our message and entrusted me with the mandate to lead,” he said, adding that the focused and issue‑based campaign resonated with voters who were eager for service‑driven representation.
Baba Jamal thanked Almighty Allah, his family, members of the majority caucus in Parliament, party executives at all levels, and loyal supporters for their unwavering commitment throughout the campaign.
He also expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the opportunity to serve previously as High Commissioner and to his fellow aspirants in the party primaries for their support and solidarity.
“I am equally grateful to H.E. John Dramani Mahama… and to my fellow aspirants in the party primaries for their solidarity and support throughout the process,” he said.
The MP‑elect also acknowledged the role of the Ghana Police Service, the Electoral Commission, the media, and other stakeholders in ensuring a peaceful, free, and fair election without any disruptive incidents.
Baba Jamal described his win as a “new dawn of hope” for Ayawaso East and called on all residents — regardless of political affiliation — to unite in building a stronger and more prosperous constituency.
“Thank you for your trust and confidence. I invite everyone regardless of background, faith, or political affiliation to come together as one people to build a greater Ayawaso East… May Allah bless you all and bless our beloved constituency.”
