The Ghana Medical Trust Fund has engaged the World Health Organization (WHO) on strategies to strengthen collaboration and improve access to specialised healthcare services in Ghana.
The engagement, led by Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, and her team, focused on strengthening the Fund’s four-pillar mandate, while addressing issues including long-term financial sustainability, governance and accountability.
The discussions formed part of efforts to build stronger partnerships that will support the delivery of quality specialised healthcare services and improve health outcomes across the country.
The WHO delegation, led by the Country Representative, Dr. Fiona Braka, acknowledged the progress made by the Trust Fund and expressed the organisation’s readiness to provide technical support, share expertise and collaborate in advancing the Fund’s objectives.
Officials from both institutions highlighted the importance of partnerships with development organisations in strengthening Ghana’s healthcare system and expanding access to critical medical services.
The Ghana Medical Trust Fund said the collaboration with WHO and other stakeholders will contribute to efforts to make quality specialised healthcare more accessible and responsive to the needs of Ghanaians.
