Member of Parliament for Wa West, Peter Lanchene Toobu, has expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the resumption of the long-stalled national grid extension project.

The MP also extended appreciation to the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, for what he described as renewed efforts to revive the critical infrastructure project aimed at improving electricity access in rural communities.

According to Mr. Toobu, the restart of the project marks a significant step toward addressing long-standing challenges in power supply within the Wa West constituency and other underserved areas.

He further expressed gratitude to residents of Wa West for their patience over the past decade while the project remained stalled, noting that the delay had affected development and living conditions in the area.

Mr. Toobu indicated that the resumption of the national grid expansion reflects renewed attention to rural electrification and infrastructure development.

He also suggested that increased focus on rural electrification projects demonstrates the importance of ensuring equitable development across all regions, though his comments were framed within broader political reflections on governance priorities.

The MP assured constituents that he would continue to advocate for accelerated completion of the project to ensure reliable and expanded electricity supply to the area.

The project will be inuagurated on Friday 19, 2026 at the Chief’s palace
