The University of Cape Coast has confirmed the deaths of a senior lecturer and his teaching assistant following a fatal accident on the Cape Coast–Accra Highway.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, the university said it received the news with “profound shock and deep sorrow.”
Dr. Kwabena Koforobour Agyemang and Mr. Peter Amoadu-Asmah died in a crash at Third Ridge.
“The late Dr. Agyemang, together with his Teaching Assistant, Mr. Peter Amoadu-Asmah, lost their lives in a tragic motor accident at Third Ridge, on the Cape Coast–Accra highway,” the statement said.
Dr. Agyemang was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geography and Regional Planning, while Mr. Amoadu-Asmah, a National Service Person, was the department’s overall best graduating student in the previous year.
The university extended condolences to the bereaved families and urged caution in reporting the incident.
“The University of Cape Coast appeals to the public, especially the media, to be circumspect and sensitive in their reportage,” it added.
