The High Court has dismissed an election petition filed by former Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) President of the African University of Communications and Business (AUCB), Haruna Rashid Yussif, challenging the outcome of the institution’s 2026 Student Representative Council (SRC) presidential election.
Mr. Yussif had filed the petition seeking to contest the validity of the election results and asking the court to overturn the outcome of the polls.
However, after reviewing the submissions and arguments presented by the parties involved, the High Court dismissed the petition, thereby upholding the results of the SRC presidential election.
The ruling effectively brings an end to the legal dispute surrounding the 2026 SRC presidential race and affirms the legitimacy of the electoral process conducted by the institution.
Following the court’s decision, the elected SRC leadership is expected to continue with its mandate and carry out its responsibilities on behalf of the student body.
