The Ghana Medical Trust Fund has donated five oxygen concentrators, including a mobile unit, to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the Tamale Teaching Hospital in the Northern Region to enhance the facility’s capacity to care for critically ill newborns.
The oxygen concentrators, generously provided by Rikair Company Limited, are expected to strengthen oxygen therapy services for infants requiring specialised respiratory support.
According to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, the donation will boost the NICU’s existing oxygen delivery capacity, while the mobile oxygen concentrator will provide vital support during emergency situations and facilitate the safe transfer of patients within the hospital.
The Fund noted that the intervention comes at a time when demand for critical neonatal care continues to increase, making reliable access to oxygen therapy essential for improving survival outcomes among newborns.
The Administrator of the Fund, Adwoa Oboubia Darko-Opoku is a remark said the additional equipment will help ensure that more babies receive timely, life-saving treatment, particularly in emergency cases where every minute is critical.
The Ghana Medical Trust Fund expressed appreciation to Rikair Company Limited for partnering with the organisation to improve healthcare delivery in northern Ghana.
The Fund described the donation as a significant contribution towards strengthening neonatal care services and improving health outcomes for some of Ghana’s youngest and most vulnerable patients.
