Sammy Gyamfi, the Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod has dragged social media personality Afia Schwarzenegger to court, seeking GH¢10 million in damages for defamatory and malicious claims.
The suit filed by lawyer Saani Mahmoud Abdul-Rasheed of Sustineri Attorneys PRUC at the High Court on Wednesday, July 23, alleges that Afia Schwarzenegger made false accusations in a viral TikTok video, claiming Mr. Gyamfi had extramarital affairs with University of Ghana students and had gifted them cars.
She also alleged he had purchased a house in the United States for his wife’s supposed younger sister.
Mr. Gyamfi has strongly denied all allegations, asserting that the claims are entirely fabricated. He clarified that his wife has no sister named “Vida,” as alleged, and stressed that no such property purchase had ever occurred.
According to the suit, the allegations have caused significant reputational damage, prompting a flood of inquiries from senior political figures, government officials, family, and friends both locally and abroad.
He argues that the statements were made either with full knowledge of their falsity or with reckless disregard for the truth, and were intended to portray him as unethical and morally corrupt.
Among the reliefs being sought are:
- A declaration that the statements are defamatory
- General and exemplary damages totaling GH¢10 million
- A court order preventing Afia Schwarzenegger from making further defamatory remarks
- A public apology and retraction to be published on TikTok and in three consecutive editions of the Daily Graphic
- Legal costs, including attorney fees
