GoldBod CEO Sammy Gyamfi has strongly rejected allegations questioning the operations of the Ghana Gold Board, describing the criticism as driven by “bitterness” and unsupported claims.
Responding to comments from Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Mr Gyamfi challenged the Minority Leader and other critics, including Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and Abena Osei Asare, to invite him before any parliamentary committee.
Mr Gyamfi said he has no fear of appearing before Parliament and insisted that such an appearance would allow him to defend GoldBod’s record.
He further argued that GoldBod’s audit by the Auditor-General found no adverse issues, using this as evidence against claims that the institution has serious problems.
His remarks amount to a direct challenge to his critics to substantiate their allegations and subject GoldBod’s operations to parliamentary scrutiny.
The underlying claims and the audit record, however, should be independently checked against the relevant Auditor-General report and parliamentary proceedings before being treated as established fact.
