The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has praised the Inspector General of Police’s special operations team, Black Maria, for its efforts in tackling criminal activities and improving safety across communities in the Ashanti Region.
The commendation came when the team, led by the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Arthur Osei-Akoto, paid a courtesy visit to the Manhyia Palace. The visit followed a series of operations carried out by the unit against suspected criminal groups in parts of the region.
Otumfuo said the team’s interventions had contributed to restoring confidence among residents in areas that had previously experienced security challenges. He encouraged the officers to maintain their dedication and strengthen cooperation with traditional leaders and community members.
“I want to commend you for the excellent work you are doing. Your efforts are in the interest of Ghana and contribute to the safety and well-being of us all.”
The Asantehene further noted that the selection of the officers by the Inspector General of Police reflected the trust placed in their ability to handle the special assignment.
“The decision by the IGP to select you for this task shows the confidence placed in your capabilities. I urge you to continue with the good work, remain vigilant and stay committed to protecting our communities,” he said.
