The opposition New Patriotic Party has demanded that former Presidential aspirant, Kennedy Agyapong retract and apologize for comments he recently made about the Afari Military Hospital.
In a statement dated Tuesday, June 16, 2026, and signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party described the remarks as unfortunate and warned that they could damage both the image of the Minority in Parliament and the party itself.
“The party believes that the remarks are unfortunate and have the tendency to undermine the image of the Minority in Parliament as well as bring the party into disrepute,” the statement said.
The NPP stressed that public comments made by its members must reflect “the values of unity, responsibility, and respect for party institutions.”
As a result, the party has directed Mr. Agyapong to withdraw the statement and issue what it described as an “unqualified apology” without delay.
“The party therefore urges Kennedy Agyapong to withdraw the statement and issue an unqualified apology without delay,” the statement added.
The party further cautioned that failure to comply could result in disciplinary action.
“Failure to comply with this directive may leave the party with no option but to refer the matter to its Disciplinary Committee for the necessary action in accordance with the party’s constitution and regulations,” the statement noted.
The NPP reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline among its members and protecting the party’s image. The statement concluded with the party’s slogan, “Development in Freedom,” and was signed by Justin Kodua Frimpong on behalf of the party leadership.
