Members of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Elections Committee who wish to contest the party’s upcoming National Executive Elections will have to relinquish their positions, Committee Chairman Frederick Opare-Ansah has cautioned.
Mr. Opare-Ansah said the committee must remain neutral throughout the electoral process and, therefore, members cannot simultaneously serve on the elections body while seeking a national executive position.
He also cautioned committee members against openly campaigning for or associating themselves with any of the aspirants.
According to him, a committee member who decides to contest will be replaced by the NPP’s National Executive Committee to preserve the credibility and impartiality of the electoral process.
The warning comes ahead of the party’s October 3, 2026 National Executive Elections.
Mr. Opare-Ansah further reminded prospective candidates that they must meet the party’s eligibility requirements before seeking to contest.
Among other conditions, aspirants must have been registered and active NPP members for at least two years, be in good standing and have paid their membership dues for the required period.
They must also pay the prescribed fees and pass the vetting process to qualify for the elections.
