The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has denied reports that Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has resigned from the Board of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod).
In a statement on Tuesday, September 29, the Ministry described the reports as false and said there has been no disagreement between the minister and GoldBod.
“The Ministry wishes to state categorically that the reports are false and do not reflect the facts,” the statement said.
The Ministry explained that Armah-Kofi Buah initially served personally on the GoldBod Board but in January 2026 nominated the Ministry’s Chief Director, Marcus Haligah, to represent him.
It said the decision was “purely administrative” due to the minister’s demanding schedule and responsibilities across two ministries.
“The ministry enjoys a good working relationship with GoldBod,” the statement added.
The Ministry said Armah-Kofi Buah “therefore remains committed to the Government’s agenda of strengthening Ghana’s gold sector, increasing local value retention, promoting responsible mining and ensuring that the country’s mineral resources contribute meaningfully to national development.”
It urged the public and media to rely on official communications from the Ministry and GoldBod regarding the institution’s governance and operations.
