Voting in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency elections in Ashaiman began about two hours behind schedule, with more than 3,000 delegates expected to elect new executives for the next four years.
The exercise, scheduled to start at 8:00 a.m., commenced at approximately 10:00 a.m. at Ashaiman Secondary School, where delegates gathered to participate in the party’s internal elections.
Despite the delay, the polling centre attracted a large crowd of party members and supporters, many of whom wore NDC paraphernalia as they waited to cast their ballots.
The election process in Ashaiman began with voting for the youth organiser and women organiser positions.
Other executive positions, including constituency chairman and communications officer, were expected to follow as the exercise progressed.
The constituency chairmanship contest attracted particular attention, with about five aspirants competing for the position.
The newly elected executives are expected to oversee the party’s organisational activities and grassroots operations in Ashaiman for the next four years.
The Ashaiman polls form part of the NDC’s constituency-level elections to select leaders who will manage the party’s structures across the country.
