Morocco’s Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports has dismissed reports circulating in the media and on social media that attributed comments to Minister Mohamed Saad Berrada suggesting that Morocco does not represent Africa.
In a statement, the Ministry described the claims as false and unfounded, denying that the Minister made remarks including that “Morocco does not represent Africa,” that the national football team represents only Morocco and not Africa, or that the country does not need Africa’s support.
The Ministry said Mr. Berrada “categorically denies these claims” and clarified that he has not granted any media interview or made any public comments on the matter.
It stressed that the statements being circulated in his name were fabricated and do not reflect his personal views or the official position of the Kingdom of Morocco.
The Ministry reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to its African identity, describing the country’s historical, cultural and human ties with other African nations as a key pillar of its national policy under the leadership of King Mohammed VI.
It urged media organisations, social media users and the general public to verify information before sharing or publishing claims, particularly those attributed to public officials.
The Ministry further stated that the Minister reserves the right to pursue appropriate legal action against individuals or entities responsible for spreading false information or falsely attributing statements to him.
