The Minority in Parliament has called for the immediate resignation or dismissal of the Attorney-General, accusing him of incompetence over the release of GHS350 million from the Contingency Fund for flood relief efforts.
Addressing a press conference, Deputy Minority Leader Patricia Appiagyei argued that the withdrawal breached established legal procedures due to ongoing garnishee proceedings involving the fund.
According to the Minority, the existence of the court processes should have prevented any disbursement from the account until the legal issues had been resolved.
The caucus has therefore demanded accountability over the transaction and urged government to provide a full explanation of the circumstances surrounding the release of the funds.
