President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transforming Ghana from a raw material-exporting economy into one driven by value addition, manufacturing and exports.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the Tema Integrated Industrial Park (TIIP), the President said the country must increase local processing of its natural resources to create jobs, promote technology transfer and generate sustainable economic growth.
He noted that industrialisation remains central to the government’s development agenda and is critical to reducing dependence on the export of raw materials while strengthening Ghana’s manufacturing sector.
President Mahama explained that the Tema Integrated Industrial Park forms part of the government’s 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme, which is designed to expand industrial capacity, enhance export competitiveness and unlock the country’s economic potential.
He expressed confidence that the project will support private sector growth, attract investment and contribute significantly to employment creation and long-term national development.
