President John Dramani Mahama has commended Roads and Highways Minister Kwame Governs Agbodza for his efforts to ensure contractors deliver projects under the government’s Big Push infrastructure programme at the expected pace.
Speaking during an inspection of the Ntotroso Bridge in the Ahafo Region on Friday, October 9, as part of his Resetting Ghana Tour, President Mahama said the minister’s supervision of contractors was helping to accelerate the programme.
“Let me commend the Roads Minister for the hard work you are doing. You are keeping all the contractors on their toes, and it is making the programme we launched under the Big Push move at the pace that we expect,” he said.
According to him, most of the contracts awarded under the programme by the end of 2025 are expected to be completed by the end of 2027, allowing Ghanaians to begin enjoying the benefits of the infrastructure investments.
“I am sure by the time we get to the end of 2027, most of the contracts we awarded end of 2025 would have been completed, and Ghanaians will see the benefit of the Big Push programme,” he added.
The Big Push is a major infrastructure programme introduced by the Mahama administration to accelerate the delivery of public infrastructure, particularly roads and bridges, and address the country’s infrastructure needs.
It is intended to improve connectivity, facilitate the movement of people and goods, and support economic activity through the construction and upgrading of key transport links.
The programme places emphasis on the timely execution of contracts and the completion of projects to ensure that public investment delivers practical benefits to communities and road users.
