Former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, has pushed back strongly against the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following moves by the party to begin expulsion proceedings against him, insisting he remains loyal to the party and has no plans to exit.
Speaking on Asempa FM, the former minister said he will not submit himself to any disciplinary or executive hearings, dismissing the process as a waste of his time. He argued that the current leadership of the NPP lacks the moral authority to question his membership.
Professor Frimpong-Boateng maintained that his criticisms were directed at what he described as “fake elements” within the party, not the NPP’s core ideals. According to him, those individuals, rather than himself, should step aside to allow the party to return to its founding principles.
He accused the present leadership and membership of eroding the party’s values and called for a complete overhaul to restore the NPP’s original character. In his view, only a fundamental reset would rescue the party from further decline.
The former minister also stood by earlier comments in which he questioned the credibility of the NPP’s 2023 presidential primaries, claiming the process was manipulated to favour then Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
His remarks have triggered a strong reaction from the NPP leadership, which has formally initiated steps to expel him.
In a statement issued by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP condemned Prof. Frimpong-Boateng’s comments as damaging, untrue, and contrary to the party’s values, stressing that allegations of rigging and claims that the party is “fake” are unfounded.
