The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has held a stakeholder dialogue with diplomatic missions in Accra aimed at strengthening collaboration, enhancing tax education, and promoting voluntary compliance with Ghana’s tax laws.
The engagement, held on June 23, 2026, brought together representatives of diplomatic missions and senior officials of the Authority to foster a more transparent and partnership-driven approach to tax administration.
Opening the dialogue, Kate Ntow, Head of the Public Sector Tax Office, underscored the importance of diplomatic missions in Ghana’s development landscape, reaffirming the Authority’s commitment to simplifying tax processes through continuous education and engagement.
The Commissioner of the Domestic Tax Revenue Division, Martin Yamborigya, also highlighted the role of diplomatic missions in improving tax awareness and supporting compliance efforts.
Officials used the platform to educate participants on relevant tax frameworks, exemptions, and international agreements governing diplomatic entities.
The Head of the International Tax Department, Nana Mensah Otoo, provided an overview of applicable legal provisions and obligations for diplomatic missions operating in Ghana.
In addition, Lawrence Hotsonyame explained domestic tax obligations, particularly relating to employment taxes, and outlined key compliance requirements and deadlines for employers and employees.
Dominic Naab also presented ongoing reforms, including improvements to tax refund processes and the introduction of e-invoicing systems aimed at simplifying compliance and enhancing efficiency.
The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, where participants exchanged views on improving tax administration and strengthening cooperation between GRA and diplomatic missions.
The Authority reiterated that sustained engagement and mutual understanding remain central to improving voluntary compliance and supporting national development efforts.
