The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) is empowering ITU young women with digital skills under the African Girls Can Code Initiative (AGCCI).
The initiative, being implemented in partnership with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and Qualcomm, is equipping the beneficiaries with skills in coding, artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, cybersecurity and data literacy, among other areas.
The programme is aimed at enhancing digital skills among young women and preparing them to take advantage of opportunities in the technology-driven economy.
GIFEC said the initiative forms part of efforts to equip girls with relevant digital competencies and encourage their participation in emerging technology fields.
The beneficiaries are being exposed to areas including coding, AI, robotics, cybersecurity and data literacy, providing them with skills that could support further education, career development and innovation.
GIFEC emphasised the importance of preparing young women for the digital future, describing the initiative as an investment in their potential.
