The National Identification Authority (NIA) has outlined a four-step Ghana Card registration abroad process to enable Ghanaians living outside the country to register for and obtain their Ghana Cards.
The initiative, being implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is aimed at making the registration process more accessible to citizens in the diaspora.
Under the new arrangement, applicants are required to begin the process by completing an online application and paying the required registration fee through the official registration portal. Ghanaians living in the United Kingdom and other countries outside Africa will pay a fee equivalent to US$115.
After submitting their applications, applicants will undergo a virtual interview with an NIA registration officer, who will review and approve their applications. Successful applicants will then receive a confirmation message containing a QR code.
Applicants will proceed to the biometric registration stage by booking an appointment, printing their QR codes, and presenting them at the nearest Ghana Mission for biometric data capture.
The NIA has also announced a special London Pop-Up Registration exercise scheduled for August 1, 2026, at Copthall Playing Fields, London, to provide an additional opportunity for Ghanaians in the United Kingdom to complete their registration.
Following the biometric capture, applicants will move to the final stage, where their Ghana Cards will be printed and issued.
The Authority has encouraged Ghanaians living abroad to begin the registration process online through the official registration portal.
“The initiative is aimed at making the registration process more accessible to citizens outside the country,” the Authority said.
