The Ghana Education Service (GES) has clarified that newly promoted teachers do not need to submit application letters or other documents to have their salaries adjusted to reflect their new ranks.
The clarification follows concerns from some newly promoted teachers who had reportedly been directed to submit application letters together with their promotion letters and other documents for the processing of salary adjustments.
In a statement dated Saturday, August 22, 2026, and signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at the GES, Management said the existing arrangement for salary adjustments for promoted teachers remains unchanged.
According to the GES, teachers who are promoted to new ranks are automatically placed on the appropriate salary scale to reflect their new positions.
“Teachers who are promoted to new ranks are usually placed automatically on the appropriate salary scale to reflect the new ranks. This existing practice has not changed,” the Service stated.
The GES has therefore advised teachers to disregard any request to submit documents for salary adjustments.
“Teachers are, therefore, to ignore the request to submit any documents for salary adjustments,” it said.
The Service said it was engaging the few regions and districts allegedly requesting such documents and urged teachers to remain calm while the matter is addressed.
