Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters found a Ford F-150, registration number DV B9981, and a Kia Rio, registration number AS 5401-12, involved in the crash.

A male occupant of the Kia Rio was trapped inside the vehicle. The firefighters used specialised extrication equipment to free him from the wreckage before transporting him to the Suhum Government Hospital for medical attention.

Preliminary information indicated that the Ford F-150 was attempting to overtake when it collided with the rear of the Kia Rio. The impact caused extensive damage to the Ford F-150, while the Kia Rio sustained partial damage.
During the rescue operation, the fire crew also recovered valuables from the vehicles, including GH¢50,000, US$5,231.81, mobile phones, power banks, National Identification cards and other personal belongings.
No fatalities were recorded in the incident.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) attributed the crash to wrongful overtaking and urged motorists to exercise caution and strictly adhere to road safety regulations to prevent avoidable accidents.
The incident comes as another reminder of the dangers associated with unsafe overtaking, particularly on major highways where high-speed collisions can have devastating consequences.
