Minister for Government Communications, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, has disclosed that Ghana’s State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) recorded a net profit of GHS19.8 billion in 2025, marking a significant turnaround from the losses recorded in previous years.

According to the Minister, a 2024 report by the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) showed that SOEs had collectively recorded a net loss of GHS2.25 billion. The Minister made this disclosure in a Facebook post dated August 31, 2026.

He said the entities had suffered four consecutive years of losses leading up to 2024.

Mr Ofosu Kwakye said the latest figures demonstrate a major improvement in the financial performance of State-Owned Enterprises.

He disclosed that SOEs generated total revenue of GHS176.43 billion in 2025, compared with GHS137.64 billion in 2024.

This represents a 28.12 percent increase in revenue over the period.

The Minister said the shift from a combined net loss of GHS2.25 billion to a net profit of GHS19.8 billion within a year reflects a substantial improvement in the financial health and performance of State-Owned Enterprises.

He attributed the development to improved management and financial performance within the SOE sector, stressing the importance of ensuring that State-Owned entities operate efficiently and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s economic development.

The latest figures are expected to strengthen calls for continued reforms and improved corporate governance across the SOE sector to sustain the gains and reduce the financial burden on the state.
