The unions said the peaceful demonstration will be held across all ECG operational regions on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, as part of their ongoing opposition to the proposed arrangement.

The decision was contained in a directive signed by Christopher Apawu, National Divisional Chairman of the SSU, and Lucky Larry Agboka, National Divisional Chairman of the JSU, on Thursday.

According to the unions, the demonstration will culminate in the presentation of a petition to President John Dramani Mahama, with copies to be presented to regional ministers in the various operational regions for onward attention.

The exercise is scheduled to begin at 8:00am and end at 4:00pm.

In Accra, participating workers are expected to assemble at the forecourt of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), while the designated assembly point in Kumasi is the ECG Regional Office at the Airport Roundabout.

Workers in other regions are expected to gather at their respective ECG regional offices.

The unions said the specific routes for the demonstrations would be communicated later.

Following the demonstrations, participants are expected to return to their assembly points for a briefing before dispersing.

The unions said the nationwide action forms part of a broader course of action announced earlier this month in protest against the proposed PSP arrangement.

They added that the wearing of red armbands, which began as part of the industrial action, would continue until a new phase of the action is announced.

Committees are also expected to be constituted at the national and regional levels to organise and coordinate the demonstrations.

The Public Utility Workers Union (PUWU), which is convening the demonstration, will lead the exercise.

The unions further disclosed that PUWU had formally notified the Inspector General of Police of its intention to organise the demonstration, citing Section 1(2) of the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491).

They said additional information on the organisation of the exercise would be communicated through the relevant committees.

The directive ended with the message: “Solidarity forever.”
