The Bono East Regional Office of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has engaged residents of Abofour-Dumasua, under its jurisdiction, in the Offinso South Municipality in the Ashanti Region, over recent quality-of service of electricity provision to the community.
The residents have lodged a complaint with the Regional Office, over a 200KVA transformer which serves the community and had become faulty, in the first week of this month, putting the entire community into darkness.
The service provider, the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo), has promised to fix the issue in time by replacing the faulty transformer however, the Area Office in Techiman, encountered some transport challenge which further delayed the work.
The challenge, has worsen the plights of the consumers who have had to endure for three weeks without electricity.
As a result of the overgrowing concerns and delays, the PURC on Monday, August 24, 2026 engaged the leadership and aggrieved consumers in the Dumasua community, assuring them of its resolve, to ensure the transformer is replaced, for power to be restored to the community.
The Commission has also further asked NEDCo to expedite the work to restore power supply to the residents by the end of the week.
