The Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group of Companies, Dr Joseph Siaw Agyepong, has expressed gratitude to Gambian President Adama Barrow and the government and people of The Gambia for their confidence in Zoomlion and the Jospong Group.
The expression of gratitude follows the signing of an Integrated Waste Management Concession Agreement between the Gambian authorities and the Jospong Group, marking a major step towards strengthening waste management infrastructure in the West African country.
Dr Agyepong said the agreement was signed in the presence of President Barrow, after which a sod-cutting ceremony was held to officially commence construction in the presence of Vice President Muhammad Jallow.
He said the project reflects the group’s commitment to demonstrating Africa’s capacity to develop homegrown solutions to the continent’s challenges.
Drawing on the company’s growth from its beginnings in Ghana to operations across several African countries, Dr Agyepong said the group remained focused on delivering quality infrastructure and supporting sustainable development.
He noted that the project would seek to create jobs for Gambian youth and women, empower local businesses and contribute to a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable environment.
Dr Agyepong reaffirmed the group’s commitment to translating the trust placed in it by the Gambian government into tangible results and lasting impact.
He also emphasised the importance of African partnerships in addressing shared development challenges, describing collaboration between African countries and businesses as a pathway to shared prosperity.
The project adds to the Jospong Group’s presence beyond Ghana as it pursues its waste management and environmental services operations across the continent.
