The newly appointed legal team for Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has filed an application at the High Court seeking a postponement of a judgment scheduled for July 3, 2026.
Lead counsel, Atta Akyea, in the application, argued that the defense requires additional time to adequately review the case record and prepare detailed written submissions before the court delivers its judgment.
According to the application, the new legal team was only recently engaged and has not had sufficient time to fully familiarize itself with the proceedings and legal issues involved in the case.
The defense maintains that granting the request would ensure a fair hearing and allow counsel to effectively represent their client’s interests before the matter is concluded.
The High Court in Accra is expected to determine whether to grant the application for a deferment or proceed with the delivery of judgment as scheduled on July 3.
